I have installed ISE Design Suite 11 on my computer multiple times in different locations. Now I need to update the tools; but, when I attempt to update using XilinxUpdate only, the installation that was installed last is recognized and can be updated. When I attempt to update a different set of the tools, the following error occurs:
"XilinxUpdate is unable to determine the current install. This could be due to the following reasons:
1. You have launched the 32-bit version of XilinxUpdate and you have both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of the tools.
To correctly update your software, launch the 64-bit version of XilinxUpdate.
2. You are running XilinxUpdate from an old installation at "<ISE_DESIGN_SUITE_VERSION_1>".
To update the latest installation at "<ISE_DESIGN_SUITE_VERSION_2>", run the XilinxUpdate from that directory."
Solution
For ISE Design Suite 11, Web XilinxUpdate only updates the last installed instance of the ISE tools. If you have multiple installations of ISE Design Suite 11 on one computer and wish to update an earlier installed instance, please download our Local Unified XilinxUpdate from http://license.xilinx.com/getLicense?group=esd_oms&tab=DownloadUpdates.If you do not wish to download the Local Unified XilinxUpdate, please open a WebCase with Xilinx Technical Support and an engineer will assist you in editing your environment so that you can run Web XilinxUpdate:
